Ray Staszak (born December 1, 1962 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is a retired American professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League for the Detroit Red Wings. Staszak played only four regular season games (scoring one assist) for the Wings in 1985-86, despite being a highly touted prospect. After an intense bidding war, he was the first million dollar college free agent to sign with an NHL team.[1] He played college hockey for the University of Illinois Flames from 1983 to 1985.
