- When Tecmo and Koei merged in April 1th, 2009, they retained all of the projects, subsidiaries and media affiliations of both companies. As a result, the copyrights of certain well known videogame franchises (including Dead or Alive) now fall under Tecmo Koei’s possession.
- Koei Tecmo is a major Japanese publisher that is the product of the merger between Koei and Tecmo when they combined in 2009. Tecmo was originally founded in the 1960s though they wouldn't start game development until 1981. They were mainly known for Ninja Gaiden and the Dead or Alive franchise. Koei was established in 1978 and are known for historical strategy games and action games.
