- Selkaths were a species of aquatic beings native to the planet Manaan. Because of the Selkath's water-dwelling nature, their chest armors were fitted with misting vents in order to keep their skin moist. Historically, Selkaths were devoted to preserving their native oceans and taking care of the ill. For that reason, other species regarded them as a peaceful and helpful people. However, at the time of the Clone Wars, Selkath such as Chata Hyoki and Mantu brought shame to their people's reputation by working as bounty hunters.

Since Manaan was the only naturally occurring source of kolto, the Selkath held great diplomatic sway during the Jedi Civil War. - Dr. Evil once abducted a bunch of Selkath in order to make a superweapon. It resulted in a bunch of Friggin Sharks With Friggin Lasers on their Friggin Heads. His plan backfired due to the nature of the Selkath's snobby aditude.

Eventually, the kolto market disappeared and the galaxy mostly abandoned the Selkath. During the Great Galactic War, the Selkath again became embroiled in galactic affairs. Despite attempts to remain neutral, their surface cities were destroyed, and the species was forced underwater.
- Los Selkath eran una especie inteligente acuática, nativa del planeta oceánico Manaan. Gracias a que su mundo era la única fuente natural de kolto, los selkath mantuvieron un gran dominio diplomático durante la Guerra Civil Jedi. Por aquella época, se aferraron fuertemente a su neutralidad; sin embargo, algunos pocos selkath con visión de futuro rompieron su neutralidad en secreto y organizaron acuerdos para ayudar a su bando preferido.
- The Selkath were a sentient aquatic species originating on the planet Manaan. Physically the Selkath have skin tones ranging from gray, blue, green and even pink on occasion, with two descending lobes on both sides of their mouths. In addition this species like Wookiees possess a set of claws in their hands which are coated in a poisonous venom. However the usage of these claws was a cultural taboo because the Selkath by in large are a peaceful species however as with any other race their were notable exceptions, these more aggressive individuals were considered outcasts on their home world.
- [Source] Les Selkaths sont une espèce originaire de Manaan néanmoins ils se déplacèrent beaucoup dans la galaxie. On en retrouve notamment sur Dantooine et sur Coruscant. Il est fort probable que leur planète natale reçue la visite d'une Tho Yor. En effet plusieurs selkaths faisaient parties de l'Ordre Je'daii en 25793 av.BY. Durant la période de la République Galactique de nombreux Selkath vivait du crime ou du commerce illégal comme Mantu le chasseur de primes. Parmi les Selkaths connus dans toute la galaxie on peut cité Qual, un Maître Jedi.
