Louisianne was governed as a colony within New France. In 1771, Japanese settlers in the central portions rebelled, forming the new nation of Misuri, and dividing Louisianne into a northern and southern portion. North Louisianne went on to become Minnesota, while South Louisianne became Arkansas.
