Kindred Enemies are a type of enemy in Xenoblade Chronicles that automatically join in a battle with nearby enemies of their same species. Unlike sight-based or sound-based enemies, a monster's status as a Kindred Enemy is separate to their detection type, and does not depend on their level nor does it depend on said detection type. A kindred sight-based monster will always join in on a nearby battle, even if the party was not in their line of sight. Likewise, if the party initiates a battle with an enemy ten levels lower than themselves, all nearby kindred enemies will join the fight, even though they would never challenge the party on their own at this level.

These can be quite dangerous when attempting to fight enemies that are near or above the party's level, although kindred enemies can be lured away and fought individually. However, if the Kindred enemies are too close together, attempting to lure one will cause all the others to follow. A few Unique Monsters will also spawn with kindred partners of their species that will defend them if the party attempts to fight them, such as the Reckless Godwin pictured below. Kindred Monsters are indicated in Xenoblade Chronicles by three dots on each side of their detection icon.
