The magic porridge pot was an item owned by Gunilda the good fairy in the cartoon show episode "Greedy And The Porridge Pot". She gave it to Greedy as a reward for freeing her from one of Gargamel's traps. She told him that in order for it to make porridge, all he has to say is, "little magic porridge pot, make some porridge nice and hot," and the pot will automatically fill with as much porridge as he would need. Then when he is through, he would simply say, "little magic porridge pot, no more porridge, thanks a lot," and the pot would immediately become empty again.

Greedy was so amazed by the magic porridge pot and the taste of the porridge it produced that he shared it with his fellow Smurfs, only for Smurfette to later give it back to him because it was disrupting preparations for the Feast Of Plenty. Brainy, who was desiring to wrest control of the magic porridge pot away from Greedy, had swapped out a painted ordinary pot for Greedy's magic pot and used it to make porridge for himself. However, because he did not know the words for how to make the magic pot stop producing porridge, it overflowed until the entire village was flooded with porridge. Meanwhile, Greedy thought that the magic porridge pot stopped working and told Gunilda about it when he recognized that the pot Greedy had was not the pot she gave him. At that moment, Smurfette and a few other Smurfs told Greedy about the magic porridge pot flooding the village, so Greedy went into Brainy's house and said the magic words to get the pot to stop making porridge. Gunilda then retrieved the pot from Greedy, apologizing for all the trouble she had caused, but saying that she will now put it to better use by giving it to the needy children at the orphanage.
