Jim Hohner was a member of the House of Representatives from Illinois and Speaker of the House from 1997 to 2003. Upon his retirement, Missouri Congressman Glen Allen Walken was elected Speaker. Despite often coming into conflict with President Josiah Bartlet, Bartlet described Hohner as "a man of fundamental decency and a public servant of purpose."
