Ectolcites is a ceratitid ammonite from the Upper Triassic (middle Norian) included in the family Distichitidae. Shells are strongly evolute with a subquadrate whorl section, rounded shoulders, and a narrow groove bisecting the venter, or outer rim. Whorls are ribbed, ribs bend sharply forward ventrolaterally as in Distichites. Sutures are ceratitic or subammonitic. Ectolcites has been found in such places as the Alps and Himalaya.
