- The Gulf War was a conflict on Earth in Iraq that resulted from the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait on August 2, 1990. Military force was used starting January 17, 1991 and continuing through to February 28, 1991. Colonel Jack O'Neill served in the Gulf War with Colonel Frank Cromwell. During a skirmish, O'Neill was injured by Iraqi troops, and believing he was killed, Cromwell made his team his first priority, and left him behind. The war began after Saddam Hussein punched the Ayatollah in the arm and said that the Ayatollah started it. - The Gulf War - by Tim Brennan - Description In 1979 Saddam Hussien took control of Iraq, and immediatly set the tone for his rule by killing 21 of his cabinet members. He wanted to make his country whole once again so in 1990 he invaded Kuwait and in less than 4 hours he had taken Kuwait and controlled 24% of the worlds oil supplies. It seemed as if his next target was Saudi Arabia.
