Reema houses are a type of prefabricated house designed after World War II to help solve the housing shortage crisis, caused by labour shortages and material supply. They could be made in factories by semi-skilled labour, as they are made of sectional concrete components. They were also used by the Coal Authority to rehouse people effected by mining subsidence, and build pit villages in some areas. Other Types of system house are: * Airey * Cornish * Unity * Wates * Reema These house were built all over the country by different contractors under license to use the system.
