The Bear-Cult is an organization of Alorn religious extremists. They believe in the reunification of the Alorn kingdoms, and there are chapters of the cult in every kingdom. They are a semi-militant organization that serves the High Priest of Belar. After the death of Torak the cult had a reemmergence, focusing their enmity on Ce'Nedra, the Tolnedran wife of the Overlord of the West. Under the leadership of Ulfgar the cult began the practice of branding new converts on the heel with a stylized bear-paw.

  • The Bear-Cult is an organization of Alorn religious extremists. They believe in the reunification of the Alorn kingdoms, and there are chapters of the cult in every kingdom. They are a semi-militant organization that serves the High Priest of Belar. Under the command of High Priest Grodeg the Cult grew in power, including holding a great deal of influence over Queen Islena of Cherek. Elvar, the head of the cult in Algar sought to take possession of the Orb of Aldur, but balked when presented with the Orb itself by Errand. The Cult lost significant power when Queen Islena sent most of the leadership to fight at the Battle of Thull Mardu that resulted in the death of Grodeg. At the same time Queen Porenn of Drasnia purged all of the cultists out of her intelligence service. After the death of Torak the cult had a reemmergence, focusing their enmity on Ce'Nedra, the Tolnedran wife of the Overlord of the West. Under the leadership of Ulfgar the cult began the practice of branding new converts on the heel with a stylized bear-paw. For centuries the Bear Cult has been seen as a fundamental part of the religious life in the outlying rural sections of Alorn kingdoms. The Cult performs many rituals, including some that seem quasi-mystical. "Out in the countryside, though, they can go for generations without ever encountering a single new thought. The Bear-cult doesn't believe in new thoughts, so it's the natural sort of thing to attract country people." -Guardians of the West
