| - Sylph (シルフ Shirufu?) is the Spirit of Wind, also representing one of the four cardinal elements of the Tales games. Sylph has appeared in several games of the series as a character or cameo, and it is able to be summoned through the Sylph arte. Sylph is opposed by Gnome, the Spirit of Earth. Sylph is replaced by the Sacred Beast of Wind, Wontiga, in Tales of Rebirth and Grim Sylphie in Tales of Graces. In most games, the Sylphs are a collection of sprites or fairies, but in certain games, the Spirit appears as a single entity.
- Sylph is Dusk's sister. She is three seconds older than Dusk.
- Gentle, cute, deadly. The three words that best describe the Sylph that travels with King Yang. Though she does seem to sincerely care about King Yang, she is under the control of Rydia of Mist, whose purposes are as yet unclear. Only time will show what role this Sylph will play...

- The Sylphs do not let the party near Yang, as they do not trust humans. When Cecil comes back with a frying pan given to him by Yang's wife, he hits Yang with it and he wakes up. Yang offers his help, but the Sylphs would not let Yang leave. They offer Rydia their help instead as a summon. Two Sylphs can later be seen in the attack on the Giant of Babil, in a tank with Yang. In the Nintendo DS remake, Sylph is one of the few spells usable by the heroes that is the Wind element, the other being Edge's Gale ninjutsu.
