- Franklin Pierce was the 14th President of the United States of America. He was a total pretty boy. He was also a psychotic killer who earned the surname of Pierce because he stabbed people a lot. Although he was born Franklin Pendragon of Bismarck, the wizard Merlin christened him Franklin Pierce after beholding his lunatic knifing of the First Dog. As Pierce was one of the worst presidents of all time, it should come as no surprise to anyone that he was a Democrat. As he was a Democrat, it should come as no surprise that Pierce died of the the liver cirrhosis.

As President, he gained some notoriety when he broached the idea of annexing Cuba. He was ultimately unsuccessful, despite the beliefs of his great-great-great grandson, Ryan Pierce. Known for his studly good looks (he was the only President to have both ears pierced), Pierce's reputation is only a notch above complete crap by having served between Millard Fillmore and James Buchanan. He could drink like a mo-fo and was the first president named Franklin. He also served in the House, Senate and made the big career no-no of expressing support for the Confederacy and then dying before having a chance to spin his way out of the statement. Pierce often referred to himself as Franklin which made a great deal of sense.

Perhaps misguidedly Franklin Pierce encouraged the United States to expand to the West. The opponents of slavery fought to get new areas to be Free states while the supporters of slavery fought to make the new areas into Slave states and there was violence in Kansas. The trouble was patched up by the end of the four year Pierce presidency but the United States was that much closer to the full Civil War a decade later. Franklin Pierce himself supported the odious system of slavery, he was a Democrat at the time when Democrats were Conservatives.
