- The Loyalist Committee was a political committee created by Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine as an advisory body to himself to handle the Separatist Crisis and promote loyalty to the Republic. As such, the committee was made up of senators who belonged to the Loyalist faction of the Galactic Senate. Prominent members of the committee included Bail Organa of Alderaan, Jar Jar Binks and Padmé Amidala of Naboo, Orn Free Taa of Ryloth, and Ask Aak of Malastare. When the Clone Wars broke out between the Republic and the Confederacy, Palpatine began introducing many changes and new policies, even modifying the Galactic Constitution. Some members of the Loyalist Committee suspected that the Chancellor was using the ongoing conflict as an excuse to claim more power for himself. Ironically, the Committee members found themselves increasingly at odds with the Chancellor, while their party had been founded to support him. Eventually, many of those Committee members joined the Delegation of 2,000, which requested that the Chancellor return all of his emergency powers to the Senate as soon as possible. Ultimately, the Loyalists' concerns were proved right when Palpatine unilaterally declared the transformation of the Republic into an autocratic New Order.
