The Battle of Naporar was a major engagement of the conquest of the Chiss Ascendancy and the first time the Golden Empire launched a troop invasion of an Ascendancy system beyond petty raids. After several raids on Chiss systems to draw out the CEDF forces at Naporar, Rin Sakaros sensed the system was at its weakest and authorized the attack. Tariun Sakaros divided the fleet into several smaller commands, all of which strewed gravity mines into space light years out from Naporar in all directions except for a single planned escape corridor. With reinforcements thus delayed, the Royal fleet surged toward Naporar from all sides.

  • The Battle of Naporar was a major engagement of the conquest of the Chiss Ascendancy and the first time the Golden Empire launched a troop invasion of an Ascendancy system beyond petty raids. The battle was ferocious and raged over two days. Having spent the month since the war's beginning analyzing Chiss attack strategies recorded at Kinoss and Cormit, Tariun wasted no time with seemingly random movements to lull the Chiss into a false sense of security. Instead, he unleashed his fleet on them with orders to destroy or capture every capital ship in orbit. Seventeen hours into the space battle, Tariun deployed a ground force to invade Naporar, commanded by Sato Raltharan and comprised of over thirteen cohorts and roughly one hundred Centurions. The landing force invaded the Chiss Defense Fleet Command headquarters, capturing what data were available and killing the forces stationed there. The soldiers also destroyed several of Naporar's planetary shield generators, exposing the world to bombardment from orbit. Tariun allowed his fleet to shell ground bases into oblivion, although Rin insisted on an avoidance of civilian casualties. The Royal fleet routed the initial defense of Naporar, capturing some Chiss Star Destroyers and destroying hundreds of other craft. The gravity mines strewn around Naporar prevented reinforcements from arriving in a concerted way, and Tariun and his line commanders were able to pick them off gradually. After two days of battle, the Empire retreated with Naporar's defense hierarchy in ruins.
