The European Region of the International Lesbian and Gay Association (short name: ILGA-Europe) is the European branch of ILGA, created in 1996. ILGA-Europe works for human rights and equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people at European level. This Brussels-based organisation is lobbying European institutions, primarily the European Union, the OSCE and the Council of Europe. On December 11th 2006, ILGA-Europe (along with LSVD and LBL) were successful in being granted ECOSOC consultative status with the UN . | - The European Region of the International Lesbian and Gay Association (short name: ILGA-Europe) is the European branch of ILGA, created in 1996. ILGA-Europe works for human rights and equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people at European level. This Brussels-based organisation is lobbying European institutions, primarily the European Union, the OSCE and the Council of Europe. Since 2000, ILGA-Europe receives funding from the European Commission for the sexual orientation part of pan-European anti-discrimination program. Since 2003, the organisation has also developed its work around transgender issues and non-EU countries. On December 11th 2006, ILGA-Europe (along with LSVD and LBL) were successful in being granted ECOSOC consultative status with the UN .
