Tony and I decided to do something with our crazy love of wine. Rather than sit and have slurred conversations in some bar, we decided to do it in front of a microphone for all the world to hear. This is the maiden voyage of the Moderately Priced Winos Podcast. It was John Lennon’s birthday. We drank a bottle of Barbera D’Alba and hung out with Mike McCarthy (producer of Spoon, Patty Griffin and our last album, Keep Your Wig On.) He was recording the band the Sun next door (www.myspace.com/thesun.) and Chris from the band came over to hang out as well. Even though I like the name of the podcast, I still think we could do better. Send your suggestions to me at Miles@fastballtheband.com Cheers, MILES

The second edition of the Moderately Priced Winos Podcast is done. Thanks again to David Brown for being so cool and saving the day. About the wine: It was actually a 2004 Patrick Lesec Chateauneuf du Pape. Les Galets Blonds. (For those of you in Austin, you can get it at Specs if you want to drink it while you listen.) We didn’t have the bottle with us when we did the podcast because we finished it while I wrangled with my computer and by the time we figured everything out, the bottle had disappeared. It wouldn’t have mattered, I obviously didn’t know jack about this wine. Thank you to Radiohead for all the great music and continuing to pioneer a different way of doing things. I owe you guys six bucks. MILES * Episode 3: In this installment drank a lovely 2001 Siri D’Jermu. It started off tasting of gym socks and dank cellars but by the end of the show it opened up into a beautiful wine. We talked about Lemmy Kilmister, Tony’s dog running away and baseball. Enjoy. MILES * Episode 4 The Moderately Priced Winos Podcast #4 is here. Our guest was Courtney Taylor Taylor from the Dandy Warhols. He had some time before his Halloween gig at La Zona Rosa so we went to the wine store. We shared a bottle of Albrecht Brut Rose. We talked about why the train station is so important to a rock band touring Europe and why 16th century music totally rocks. Courtney knew a lot about wine and other things, like, he told us King Henry the VIII wrote the first hit song. Go figure. Thanks Court, for hanging out and thanks Vino Vino for the hospitality.
