Paul Revere (ca. 1735-1818) was a silversmith and dentist who is best remembered, however, as a patriot during the American Revolution. His "midnight ride," warning of the approaching British, was commemorated decades later by the poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (altering certain details and obscuring the fact that three others also delivered the same warning).
