| - It is a time of great peace in the galaxy under the rule of King Finus Valorum. Part of this is because of the eradication of the Sith Order that was started by Darth Bane and the fact that the Jedi Order was created as the king's bodyguards. Anakin Skywalker was a powerful Jedi that was a veteran in the war that created the peace. He was mentored by his friend Obi-Wan Kenobi. Anakin has been invited to the chambers of the man Cardinal Palpatine. Cardinal Palpatine is the head of the church on Corocaunt. Obi-Wan had always warned Anakin to be cautious of Palpatine. Many people said, what Anakin considered to be, terrible rumors about the cardinal. Aside from the king, Cardinal Palpatine was one of the most powerful people in the galaxy. Cardinal Palpatine acted as one of the king's aids. Some of these rumors involved Cardinal Palpatine planning to betray the king and rule Corocaunt himself. Other rumors said that Palpatine was a Sith Lord, but Anakin dismissed all of these rumors since Palpatine had always been a good friend to him. All around the building Anakin sees the Cardinal's guards who are all armed with electostaffs or blasters. Anakin reaches the double doors into Palpatine's chambers that are guarded by two guards armed with electrostaffs that they use to block the doors. "My name is Anakin Skywalker," Anakin tells them, "The Cardinal wanted to see me." The guards move their staffs away and Anakin walks past them into the chambers. Inside of Palpatine's chambers everything is lavish and shows his great wealth and power. As Anakin walks through the entryway he hears a voice say, "Ah, Anakin welcome." Anakin turns around to see Palpatine walking towards him in red and black robes. "Hello Cardinal," Anakin says bowing his head, "You wanted to see me." "Why yes," Palpatine replies smiling, "Take a seat." Anakin seats himself onto a red sofa. Anakin looks around and sees a golden statue of a hooded figure looking down. Anakin thought that this was a strange thing but didn't question it. "Would you like something to drink," Palpatine asks over at his bar. "No thank you," Anakin replies. Palpatine pours himself some red wine and sits down on a black leather chair near the sofa where Anakin is seated. Palpatine begins to sip his wine when Anakin asks, "So what is it you wanted to see me about?" Palpatine puts his glass down on a side table. He then hunches over and looks towards Anakin. "I am worried about Corocaunt Anakin." "Why," Anakin replies in surprise, "Everything has been going fine. What's the problem." Palpatine looks at Anakin stenrly. "To be honest I'm worried about the king. I have looked at his record of what he has done and I don't believe that he is strong enough to rule. And there are rumors that the Mandalorian Empire is growing and moving. Corocaunt needs a ruler that is stronger than Valorum is." Anakin looks disturbed and asked, "What are you proposing?" "It is simple but difficult," Palpatine says, "We must take over Corocaunt." "What," Anakin shouts getting up from the sofa with a start. "I think that I would be more capable of ruling Corocaunt then Valorum," Palpatine says getting up as well, "As do others and I bet deep down you think that way as well." Anakin shakes his head, "No, no you can't be planning this!" Anakin draws out his lightsaber and ignites it. He points it at Palpatine shouting, "I'm going to turn you over to the Jedi!" Palpatine springs up from the sofa shouting, "Be reasonable Anakin!" Anakin puts his lightsaber away and rushes out of the Cardinal's chambers. While walking through the hallway Anakin accidentally bumps into the Jedi Captain Dooku. "Sorry," Anakin says passing him. Dooku walks into Palpatine's chambers. "There is a new complication," Palpatine tells Do
