Eddie didn't think much of the warning and was eager to take Topanga. Epstein was pleased when Delgado decided to attack. Initially, the attack went well. While the secondary attack through the forested Canyon sides failed, the main Valley forces managed to break through the Glenview wall. As the Lancers advanced down the Topanga Canyon Boulevard, Epstein jokingly asked Delgado if he ready to go surfing in the Pacific to which he replied that it would be something alright. However, a foot soldier came trotting up and reported that the Topangans managed to stop the advance due to a second barrier at a point where the Canyon narrowed about a half mile from the wall. They rode up to see it and before Delgado could issue orders, the Topangans sprung another surprise. They triggered an avalanche which rushed down at Epstein and the other Lancers crushing them to death.
