The Prime Senator has additional powers than regular Senators, including holding more sway over their respective party's policies. In the case of a coalition government, the Prime Senator would also hold more sway than standard Senators over their partner party's policies. Overall Prime Senators tend to have more control over domestic issues, law-making as well as far more involvement in the Senate than Presidents, who have more control over diplomatic issues instead. However both posts can involve themselves with the issues the other respectively usually deals with, such as the Prime Senator dealing with diplomacy. The current Prime Senator is Kenshin Saito of the Liberal Party, who has served since 4034 and succeeds fellow Liberal Prime Senator Park Chanyeol who served two non-consecutive terms (the first from 4021-4024, the second from 4026).
