Newfoundland lore gives an account of a curse being put on the community iin 1855 by Bishop Carfagnini, who was recalled from Immaculate Conception Church by Rome (or run out of town after a riot, depending on whom you ask). Legend has it that his parting words were "grass will grow on Water Street". From the looks of things, the curse seems to have come true. According to a note posted on Facebook by Liam Peacock, Harbour Grace is simply a washed up town that was replaced by Ringo Starr and has since faded into obscurity.
