  • An Oceanesian State is one of the eleven federated states which, along with the Oceanesian Federal District, make up the United States of Oceanesia. Each state is officially styled as the "the State of ", for example The State of Sri Lanka. Every state has its own state government which is separate from the federal government and which is generally able to exercise any governmental powers not explicitly given to the federal government by the Constitution of the United States of Oceanesia. Each state has an executive headed by a Governor who is directly elected by the people of the State, a state legislature also elected by the people, and its own judicial system separate from but subordinate to the federal judiciary. Similarly the Federal District also has such a structure and powers, but its decisions can be overridden by the federal Congress, whereas a state's executive and legislative actions cannot be overridden if they are actions outside of the federal government's sphere of powers. Every state, as well as the federal district, elects a number of Representatives to the federal House of Representatives according to its population - these Representatives are directly elected by the people. Each state also receives 3 seats in the Oceanesian Senate, and the federal district receives 2 senate seats - Senators are appointed to their positions by the legislatures of the states or the federal district. Finally, every state is also allocated a number of seats in the Oceanesian Electoral College equivalent to the total number of seats it has in Congress (Senate + House seats) - the Electoral College elects the President of the United States of Oceanesia as well as the Vice President. The following is a table containing statistics about the States, as well as the federal district. They are listed in rough geographical order from western-most to eastern-most for the states, but the federal district is listed last and is not in the order. Finally, at the very end is the statistics for the entire country per column; effectively in some ways a total.
