  • He is incapacitated. See here.
  • Yes, well sort of. He was decapitated and his head buried by Shikamaru Nara. Hidan did undergo a Jutsu that allowed followers of the Jashin religion to become immortal, but only works if they kill. Seeing as he will not be able to kill, the jutsu will fade and he will die.
  • it is very highly likely that he is dead because he was buried and Hidan's immortality lasts only when he kills others. He can't do that if he's buried.
  • No. But he is slowly dying since he don't get any food. Food and water don't matter to Hidan. It's upkeeping his religion that maintains his immortality and that requires him to keep killing and performing his little rituals. Since he is now just a head with no one to stitch it back to a body, then he can no longer kill and the immortality will eventually wear off and he'll die. However, considering he was not brought back to life with all the other truly dead Akatsuki members (Orochimaru was sealed, not killed, and also "part" of Kabuto now), then that can only mean that he is still alive with his soul intact, so the immortality seems to be able to last for quite a while before wearing off.

The second fan book made it clear that he is dying because he doesn't get any food. "Fan" book... The two fan books, along with the three databooks and one art book, was written for the fans of Naruto by Masashi Kishimoto. They contain some info that isn't found in the manga.
