The Battle of Gale was a large naval engagement during the Galactic War, between forces of the United Nations Space Command and the Union of Jiralhanae Tribes. The battle occurred in the Gale system on December 24, 2627, and saw a Jiralhanae Tribe Fleet under the command of Chieftain Jotunus, totalling 56 warships, attack the UNSC-held world. This attack was part of a wider assault taking place on the same day, later known as the Christmas 2627 Offensive, aimed at breaking the UNSC interstellar line by focusing attacks on the salient of Gale and surrounding systems.
