In 1943, RKO created a superhero dog character Superlighting, was released as part of the Whistletoons series. The character is ripped off from the short-lived Paramount's Superman series from the 1940s. Superlighting's first cartoon named "Stickin' in the Hightub", a spoof of Warner Bros.' Sinkin' in the Bathtub released in December 1943. The first cartoon were in black-and-white. The rest are in Technicolor. In 1953, Superlighting won its own series. The series lasted until 1964.
