It wasn't, however, passed in the Senate, therefore the depression continued. Another issue President Thompson faced was the Venezuelan-American War fought in the southern Carribean sea near Trinidad and Tobago. The war helped improve the economy slightly as it created jobs in manufacturing. The war ended in December 2024, however and the economy dipped into a deeper depression as Thompson left office, leaving the economic crisis in the hands of Lionel Rivera. After Thompson left office he moved to Rochester, the capital of the new state of West New York (which he helped create.) In 2042 he released an autobiography entitled I Dream of Liberty which sold 65 million copies electronically, and 24 million copies on paper. He gave his last interview in 2056 for Fox.news in which he commented on his opinion of President Kennedy and how well of a job he was doing in comparison to Thompson. Antoine died on May 31, 2071 in his home in Rochester at the age of 101, he was survived by his daughter Anne.
