The Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds were the strongest senior team in this district. They had applied to the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association (CAHA) to join the 1925-26 Thunder Bay Senior Playoffs where there were two strong teams. The CAHA refused permission so the Greyhounds joined the Central Amateur Hockey League in order to have good competition. Without the Greyhounds there was no senior league in Northern Ontario.
