The Behemoth development studio is located in San Diego, California. The company is known for producing simple games with Paladin's signature 2D style. Their first console game, Alien Hominid, gained critical acclaim by the media and the members of The Behemoth quickly gained status as indie developers focused on bringing old-school styles of video games back into mainstream gaming. The Behemoth's second game, Castle Crashers, was released August 27, 2008 for Xbox 360, August 31, 2010 for PlayStation 3, and September 26, 2012 Steam. The Behemoth's third game, BattleBlock Theater, was released April 3, 2013 on Xbox Live Arcade and May 15, 2014 on Steam. They are currently in development of a new game, Pit People.

The Behemoth is extremely steep; realistically, it would be almost impossible to ski down it correctly (or safely) due to it being almost completely vertical. Hugh is extremely afraid of skiing down the Behemoth; he agrees to accompany Johnny to the trail, but ends up not actually skiing on it when they go there, foiling Johnny's attempt at getting to ski down the trail.
