To do this Ultio studied Sith teachings and Sith sorceries, believing this would aid him when the time came.

abstract	Divus Ultio was a male Umbaran Jedi Consular during the time of the Old Republic. He was raised as a Jedi and was knighted at age twenty, studying the Force as a Consular. He received a vision of himself killing a Sith, and believed this meant that he was destined to a personal campaign against the Dark Side of the Force. To do this Ultio studied Sith teachings and Sith sorceries, believing this would aid him when the time came. After years of study he received another vision, but this time it contained a location—the deserts of Tatooine. Following the vision, and what he believed to be the will of the Force, Ultio traveled to the desert planet where he began his search for the Sith. After weeks of unsuccessful searching Ultio was prepared to return to the Jedi Temple when the Umbaran received the vision again. The Jedi returned to the wasteland deserts seen in the vision and found a Human male meditating over a Sith holocron. Ultio killed the Sith with Force lightning, taking the Sith holocron and destroying it. When Ultio returned to the Jedi temple the Jedi Council questioned him about the death of his adversary, and the Umbaran admitted to killing the man without attempting to reason with him first. The council decreed the Knight unfit for duty, but Ultio declared that he would no longer listen to the restrictions of the council. The Umbaran handed over his lightsaber and left the Order. For fifteen years Ultio wandered the galaxy, attempting to right the wrongs he came across. In that time he fashioned himself a sword using Force–infusion and elements of Sith Alchemy.
