Synopsis
  • Aboard the Doomslayer's pocket dimension space station, the Super-Family is shocked by the brutal murder of the Eradicator. Doomslayer regains his temper and expresses regret for his fit of rage and the killing he committed. He explains that his mission is to wipe out Doomsdays and all knowledge of them from the universe, and proceeds to attack the original Doomsday with an energy blast. Superman saves him by blocking the beam and insists that the Doomsdays are capable of redemption, citing the Doomslayer's own intelligence. Doomslayer denies him and restates his goal of destroying the Doomsdays and the Earth by crashing the space station into the planet. Meanwhile, in Metropolis, the citizens witness the approach of the space station. Jimmy Olsen wonders if Superman will return to save them, and Lois reassures him that Superman will save them or die trying. In orbit, Superman and his allies eject from the ship and attempt to slow its fall. Doomslayer alters his plans accordingly to merely destroy North America with the station's impact rather than the entire planet, by aiming for Metropolis. Superman orders Supergirl, Steel, and Superboy to peel off and help the relief effort when the ship hits. He manages to angle the station to land in the bay, creating a huge tsunami. Steel , Superboy , and Supergirl are able to stop the wave from hitting the city. Superman emerges on the beach and finds Lois and her news crew. Doomslayer disembarks from his station and declares that he and the Doomsday variants will kill them all.

quotation
  • You just killed an innocent man. Why should you be the judge of what Doomsday deserves?! He maybe a mass murderer-- --but the fact that you have achieved intelligence says he has the potential for change, for redemption. Nobody else dies today.
