John Roxton is a fictional paleontologist mentioned in The Lost World as having a dig site in Mongolia. He put forth the original theory that a Tyrannosaurus could not see you if you were not moving, which was later disproved in the same novel. According to Richard Levine, Roxton was a subpar paleontologist: he devised the aforementioned theory of tyrannosaur vision, he misidentified a Troodon as a Velociraptor. He was also not very good at anatomy, according to Levine.
