In Norse mythology, Thiazi was a storm giant who kidnapped the goddess Idunn, the keeper of the golden apples which gave the Æsir (Norse gods) immortality. Without the golden apples, the Æsir began to age. Thiazi is the father of Skadi. He was well versed in the use of magic and had a "magic eagle skin", which allowed him to transform into an eagle. The Æsir launched an all out rescue effort since their lives were on the line. Thiazi was killed by the gods. Odin transformed the eyes of Thiazi into two stars. The proper spelling of Thiazi is Þjazi.
