The 1961 Southeastern 500 was a Grand National (now Nextel Cup) event held in Bristol Motor Speedway on October 22, 1961. Once Junior Johnson fell out of the event while leading, Joe Weatherly and Rex White exchanged the lead over the last 106 laps, with Weatherly coming out on top by seven carlengths. Eventual season champion Ned Jarrett finished 6th. Stats
