| - Bob "Bobby" Bell (21 March 1918 – 6 June 2009) was a British art director who joined Gerry Anderson in 1958 as Assistant to Art Director Reg Hill during the production of Torchy the Battery Boy. At some point prior to this, he had worked at Pinewood Studios as a matte painter. He has a son, Tony, who worked with him directing some of the Terrahawks episodes. Bell worked on Four Feather Falls, followed by Supercar, and as Art Director on Fireball XL5. In 1960, Bell worked with Nicholas Parsons and Anderson on a series of television commercials for the holiday company Blue Cars. Bell was Art Director on Stingray in 1962 and worked as Supervising Art Director on Thunderbirds Are Go and Thunderbird 6. He worked on Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons in 1967, and was Art Director on Journey to the Far Side of the Sun in 1969. He also worked on UFO during that year. During 1971, Bell worked on The Protectors, and from this year until 1982, he worked as Art Director on a number of television series, commercials, and feature films, including The New Avengers, The Wild Geese, Lion of the Desert, and Hammer House of Horror. In 1982, Bell worked on the preproduction of Terrahawks, and to be its Art Director. He became Associate Producer of the series in 1983, and in early 1984 was made an Associate Director of Anderson Burr Pictures Limited. Source(s) Required At some point while working at A.P. Films, Bell went to Burnham Beeches to collect ready-made scenery for set-dressing. At that time (unknown if the rule still applies today), cutting twigs was prohibited, so when Bell began cutting twigs and branches (he failed to read a notice saying that was he did was against the rules), a tall gentleman who was wearing a poacher's hat and heavy tweeds asked Bell what he was doing in addition to giving a reminder about the rules and regulations that protected the trees. The man took Bell's name and number, and the latter said that he was from a company that makes films. Years later, Bell said that he should have been more attentive in regards to the rules regarding cutting trees. Several days later, a policeman turned up at the A.P. Films studio and requested to see Bell. When he did, Bell was immediately arrested for stealing and charged with theft. Following a report to Beaconsfield Police Station, Bell told Gerry Anderson what had happened. In response, Anderson called Anthony Lucas, who was head of ATV's legal department to seek advice, and a few days later, Bell got a letter from Buckinghamshire's Chief Constable; he was told that he would not be charged, but not without being told to behave appropriately in the future.
