Patricia Barnes is the wife of Judge Robert Barnes, who presided over the trial that wrongfully convicted David Clarke. Ironically, she is the founder of the Liberty Project, which provides legal counseling for people suspected of having been wrongfully convicted. She was a friend of James Palmer, the court clerk in the trial, both of whom were political activists as early as the 1980s.
