It is said that the seal Raido creates craves physical energy and eats away at the yang based energy of jutsu. Raido often plays with the shape transformation to better increase the seals range of effect. Similar to another move of Raido's they seem to produce ancient written hieroglyphics it is unknown if they can be translated. Raido later explains that this seals sole purpose is to devour the Yang Release properties of any ninjutsu removing the physical aspect of the chakra that allows jutsu to take form. This effectively destabilizes ninjutsu based techniques that rely on the utilization of the yang principle. Without Yang to give ninjutsu physical form to hold it together the balance of yin and yang is disturbed and the jutsu is left only as in and fades away. This makes all ninjutsu fall victim to the influence of the destabilizing effect of the barrier as without a physical form and principle to adhere to the ninjutsu is nothing more than imagination without form. These seals must be destroyed by high impact taijutsu attacks as they are weak to direct violence. Nintaijutsu has also be shown to be vulnerable to the seals effects though it stands a better chance of being successful with the actual direct attack of taijutsu. This employed with his ability to absorb nearly all forms of ninjutsu with the Preta Path active has made fighting Raido in long range combat highly ill advised. This move in its more advanced form becomes the World Genesis technique which gives the jutsu a new function allowing it to become used for offensive purposes.
