- Augustus was present at the Carpathian feast which was held by the Draculas. He was described by the Count as being a 'bore', however it seems that he knew his Vampire Law. Augustus was nervous about burning a half fang because the Vampire High Council directive of 1832 said that every Carpathian Feast must by sanctioned by the Vampire High Council. Since the Count asked Augustus if he could sanction the feast, it is likely that Augustus was a member of the High Council.

- General Augustus is a notably cheerful and one of the kinder high-ranking Champions in Aleroth. Unlike many others, he welcomed the Dragon Knight as warmly as he welcomed Rhode, and bears no prejudice towards the draconic hero, despite Rhode's insistence. He understood Zandalor's explanation of the hero's quest to free Rivellon from Damian's grasp. The Dragon Knight found the General holding off the hysterical and panicking crowd in Aleroth at the gates of the Ministry when the undead abominations and demons spawned by accident and had ravaged half of the Healer City due to Zandalor removing the shield from Behrlihn's captivity to aid the Dragon Knight's quest to the Hall of Echoes.

He had an eight room villa, an eight wheeled chariot and an eight books to read in rotation. Octavius senior also liked keeping a pet octopus (hence the nickname) and worshiped an obscure Roman god called Octa 'Eight-Ball' Slap-Yer-Money-Down' to increase his luck.
