Villiers was a Knight of the Round Table and relative of Sir Lancelot. When his cousin's adulterous affair with Queen Guinevere was uncovered and accusations of treason banded about, he quickly pledged his support. He helped to rescue Guinevere from the stake and was rewarded with the Earldom of Beéarn. After King Arthur's death, he retired to Lancelot's communal hermitage for aging knights where he remained until his leader passed away.
