- Ralph McQuarrie was the artist responsible for the sole image of the Ark of the Covenant in Raiders of the Lost Ark. His work appears onscreen in the Bible Indiana Jones uses to answer Major Eaton's question of "What does this ark look like?" - Ralph McQuarrie fue un ilustrador y diseñador futurista responsable de la apariencia de la trilogía original de Star Wars, además de la serie original de Battlestar Galactica, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial y Cocoon, por la que ganó un premio Óscar. Suele ser reconocido por las iniciales RMQ, las cuales usaba como firma. Muchos de sus conceptos artísticos aparecen en The Illustrated Star Wars Universe y en The Art of Ralph McQuarrie.
- Ralph McQuarrie was de conceptuele tekenaar voor de drie originele Star Wars films. Het was ondermeer dankzij enkele van zijn tekeningen dat George Lucas de film makkelijker aan Fox kreeg aangepraat. Door zijn conceptuele tekeningen was hij de persoon die voor Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope instond voor het algemene uiterlijk van personages als Darth Vader, Chewbacca, C-3PO en R2-D2. Daarna werd het uiterlijk van deze personages nog verfijnd tot het uiteindelijke resultaat. Ralph McQuarrie overleed op 3 maart 2012.
