  • Staff Sergeant Bob Brown is an American special operations soldier who has helped save the United States from devastating national security threats on numerous occasions. Robert Davis Brown was born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas. His father, Hugh, was a bank officer; while his mother, Connie, was an elementary school teacher. After Bob graduated from high school, he went on to Rice University in Houston, Texas. While there, he began dating fellow student, Kim Anderson. After Bob graduated from Rice with a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science, he married Kim. He enlisted in the United States Army shortly after the wedding. Bob decided to become an infantryman. After completing basic combat training and then infantry advanced individual training at the U.S. Army Infantry School at Fort Benning, he was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division as an infantryman in the 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment. Soon after, Bob earned the Air Assault Badge at the U.S. Army Assault School and then the Basic Parachutist Badge at the U.S. Army Airborne School. A little while after becoming a fire team leader, he attended the U.S. Army Sniper School and was then assigned as a sniper to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment. Bob later attended the U.S. Army Ranger School, earning the Ranger Tab. He eventually rose to the position of sniper section leader. A little while later, Bob attended the U.S. Army Pathfinder School and was then assigned as a pathfinder to the 4th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment. As a pathfinder, he served as part of a unit that dropped into locations in order to set up and operate drop zones, pickup zones, and helicopter landing sites for airborne operations and air resupply operations. Bob was also involved in the rescue of downed pilots and helicopters. Shortly after he graduated from the U.S. Army Mountain Warfare School, he was invited to apply to join an elite ultra-clandestine special operations unit. Designated "1st Special Actions Group", this black ops team is simply referred to as "The Unit" by its members. The Unit officially does not exist and its immediate chain of command goes to The Unit's commanding officer straight to the President of the United States; this bypasses the Secretary of Defense. It operates under the cover of being known as the 303rd Logistical Studies Group, and its operators are all under cover of being desk bound clerks and military logistics personnel. With Kim's full support, Bob accepted the offer and applied to join the 1st Special Actions Group. After passing the assessment and selection process, he went on to the operator training course. Upon completing training, Bob was assigned to the The Unit's Alpha Team. In his capacity as an operator in The Unit, he engages in such missions as hostage rescue, the capture and elimination of terrorist forces and intelligence gathering on terrorist threats, as well as various other "projects" authorized by the U.S. government deemed unsuitable and too risky for standard military forces.
