  • A live-action is a motion picture that features a combination of real actors or elements: live-action and animated elements, typically interacting.
  • In filmmaking, video production, and other media, live action refers to cinematography or videography that is not animated, sometimes based on its original animated series. As it is the norm, the term is usually superfluous, but it makes an important distinction in situations in which one might normally expect animation, as in a Pixar film, a video game, or when the work is adapted from an animated cartoon, such as Scooby-Doo, The Flintstones, 101 Dalmatians films, or The Tick television program.

abstract
  • In filmmaking, video production, and other media, live action refers to cinematography or videography that is not animated, sometimes based on its original animated series. As it is the norm, the term is usually superfluous, but it makes an important distinction in situations in which one might normally expect animation, as in a Pixar film, a video game, or when the work is adapted from an animated cartoon, such as Scooby-Doo, The Flintstones, 101 Dalmatians films, or The Tick television program. The term is also used within the animation world to refer to non-animated characters: in a live-action/animated film such as Space Jam, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Looney Tunes: Back in Action, or Mary Poppins in which humans and cartoons co-exist, "live-action" characters are the "real" actors, such as Bob Hoskins and Julie Andrews, as opposed to the animated "actors", such as Roger Rabbit himself. As use of computer-generated imagery (CGI) in films has become a major trend, some critics, such as Mark Langer, have been discussing the relationship and overlap between live action and animation. These new films that use computer-generated special effects can not be compared to live action films using cartoon characters because of the perceived realism of both styles combined.

What follows is their journey into Grundo, and the a massive story which comprised of The Airship, The Missing Princess, and The Treasure of Grundo. Teddy, Grubby, Newton Gimmick travel to find the Treasure. Along the way they are followed by Tweeg and his henchman L.B. Tweeg switches the map, and the result is the trio end up travelling South instead of North. Out of fuel and out of ideas they end up as prisnors of the Mudblups. There, they meet Prince Arin, who explains how he is in search of his little sister who has been kidnapped. An earthquake provides an escape as Teddy, Gimmick, and Prince Arin escape. Gimmick remembers that while they were in the caves, a grunge with a camera takes a picture. The flash creates confusion among the mudblups which also gives Gimmick an idea. They return with lanterns to rescue Grubby. Once out of the caves and onto the airship the trio agrees to help Prince Arin find his sister. The Airship, running on steam, runs out of water. Forcing the group to land by a waterfall, where they meet The Wooly What's It. After discussion Wooly gives them the directions to the Wizard. They arrive at the Wizard's home, and after some side-show conniving learn that the Princess Aruzia was kidnapped by the Gutangs and is kept in the Hard to Find City. Grubby realises that is the same place they were looking for, to find the Treasure. After camping for the night, Tweeg sees them, and hitches a ride on the rudder of the Airship. Once they arrive at the Hard to Find City, the group engages in hand to hand combat with the Gutangs, a type of green furry creature with monkey like tails and distinctive masks. They easily overcome the Gutangs and use the masks to disguise themselves. Arin finds Aruzia high up in a tower locked in a gibbet. He frees her and there is a warm reunion. Teddy recognises a shrine and they enter it. There, he finds the other half of the Amulet still in place on the wall. He unites the two, and discovers the true meaning of the words. "Only the Pure of Spirit, May find the Treasure of Knowledge." The Amulet is sealed together and the treasure appears along with a pillar that rises showing six crystals. It is interesting to note that each character has a crystal attribute given to them. * Imagination - Gimmick * Honesty - Grubby * Bravery - Prince Arin * Trust - Princess Aruzia * Friendship - Teddy Ruxpin * Freedom - all The group takes the crystals and leaves the "treasure" behind. Tweeg, on the other hand, revels in his new wealth and spends his time plotting on how to get it all down from the mountain. This results in disappointment as the "treasure" fades away.
