The exact date of the merge between the ancient galaxies is not known, and will perhaps never be. The galaxy was however formed during a merge that lasted for many millions of years. Several galaxies were absorbed into the larger galaxy and started forming the galaxy as it was known in the later years. The formation between different galaxies vastly distributed the planets within the former galaxies around in the newly created one, and it would give a variated space.
