I had an acquaintance who had one done when she was 18. She said the doctors performing it gave her some form of weak anesthesia. Despite that, she said the pain was absolutely unbearable. When she complained about it, she was told to not complain so much that perhaps her piercings and tattoos hurt her even more. Anyway, years have passed since then and she has attempted to get pregnant and hasn't been able to. I have heard that the worse that can happen is your uterus gets perforated and you can die from hemorrhage. Infertility is one of the less lethal side effects.
