| - Before Spider-Man
Before the events of the series, Peter Parker was an average high school student until he realized what had been lying behind his back his entire life- the truth about his parents' death. He learned that his parents had more history than an average mother and father. His father had worked with Doctor Connors and created the spiders, but it was too soon that Richard Parker had mysteriously disappeared before finishing his own work. With Doctor Curt Connors left to finish their most recent project, the work was left abandoned. With the discovery of his past and the secrets held from him, Peter Parker snuck into Oscorp where he was bitten by a spider filled with super-human DNA that would give him the powers of Spider-Man. Unfortunately, for Curt Connors, he as well had a problem with cross-genetics and became the infamous Lizard. As a result of the new Spider-Man's win against the Lizard, he became New York's city-wide crime fighter.
Pilot
A few months after the battle of New York, Peter Parker is living the life of the superhero of New York- until SHIELD decides him worthy of their Avengers project. Although they are considering him worthy, they need to be exactly sure he is the one they are looking for. When a helicopter armed with an explosive rocket is aimed at Oscorp, Spider-Man swings in to save the day, proving to SHIELD he is more than what they thought. His second test is a battle with a costumed Scorpion who holds a woman hostage on top of a NYC rooftop. Spider-Man easily saves the hostage and takes him down, leaving SHIELD with footage of him saving the life of another. His third and final task is on his ride back to Manhattan in the New York subway. To Spider-Man's surprise, Hawkeye takes a surprise attack on the train and at Peter Parker. Spider-Man quickly comes to the scene and meets a tough match in a battle between him and Barton. Eventually, Clint gives in and Spider-Man wins as Hawkeye flees the scene on the train. Later that week, with research from Peter and Gwen, Peter realizes SHIELD's ultimate goal towards Spider-Man. Spider-Man is soon led to SHIELD headquarters, where he begins in a conflict with Nick Fury, Maria Hill, Clint Barton and Maria Hill. SHIELD invites Spider-Man to SHIELD and their Avengers project, but to their disappointment Spider-Man denies and soon begins a battle with SHIELD themselves. The battle soon comes between Iron Man and Spider-Man, who flies him out to the middle of New York in a rooftop battle. Spider-Man eventually wins and tells Iron Man- and SHIELD- his final thoughts towards their project. Later at Stark Industries, Nick Fury visits Tony Stark where he concludes their alternative is to wait.
Tinkering
When Peter finally settles in from an unexpected turn from SHIELD, he gets a call from his girlfriend Gwen Stacy, realizing that Norman Osborn is acting suspicious with an example of him covering up a recent breakout at Ravencroft that involved Phineas Mason, or the Tinkerer and one other missing inmate. He decides to go visit Phineas Mason who has recently moved back in to New York City in his somewhat secretive workshop to ask him a few questions about the suspicions Peter has been having. Phineas denies everything and leaves him with nothing until Peter finds an Oscorp titled pumpkin-bomb scattered in an open drawer in the workshop. Peter visits Gwen soon after, confirming that Norman and Phineas are in an alliance where he concludes he wants to investigate further. Peter visits the workshop once more and waits for a vehicle to exit from the garage area from previous information that Norman left Oscorp earlier that day in a limo. Soon after, the limo is spotted and as Spider-Man goes to ambush the ride, he is counteracted by Norman in a green battle suit made by the Tinkerer, informing him that he has been watching Peter all along and that he is following a revenge scheme towards Richard Parker who allegedly left him to die with a genetic disease. They begin a battle and later end up in Central Park, where SHIELD comes in as Norman reveals a mutation in which he explains is what he's been having to do to survive. Green Goblin soon has SHIELD and Peter at his hands until he backs away, warning Peter that will make everyone he knows suffer. Nick Fury then comes over to an injured Spider-Man struggling to lift off a branch on fire that Norman left him with and pulls it off of him, informing him that he should still consider the option of help. Spider-Man agrees with an exception of no recruitment or partnership between him or SHIELD. The next day, Norman holds a press conference at Oscorp announcing the SIX Initiative- a plan to take out Spider-Man once and for all.
