Many of these items were outlawed due to conflict with the ideals of the city, that they competed with businesses needed to make Rapture self-sufficient, and that importing anything could eventually lead to a security breach, revealing the existence and location of Rapture to the outside world.

- Contraband, also known as Reverse Side, is a recurring Super Specialty skill in the Star Ocean series. It is an Item Creation ability that allows the party to create special items not obtainable by any other method that can make certain gameplay elements easier; however, failure results in the Bounced Check, which drains Fol over time. In addition, there is a 50% chance of Affection Rating dropping between random party members every time the specialty is used.
