  • The University of Pennsylvania (Lyran classification: research university), colloquially called Penn or UPenn, was a research university founded in the 18th century in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It had a law school, a medical school and a dental school. It was also famous for business education, taught at the Wharton School. It also lacked a hussade team.   • Benjamin Franklin, Penn's founder, advocated an educational program that focused as much on practical education for commerce and public service as on the classics and theology.
