In that year, the Gagarin was attacked by Klingons, and Mhvlovi was among the twenty-two crew members taken prisoner. He spent the following eight years in a prison camp on the planet Pao'la, sharing a cell with fellow crewmate Cheryl Flodin, and forced to work in that world's dilithium mines. Mhvlovi was rescued from Pao'la in 2287, in a joint operation by Captains Koloth and James T. Kirk. (TOS novel: In the Name of Honor)
