Originally organized for service in World War I, V Corps also saw service in World War II, and served in Western Europe during the Cold War. Most recently, V Corps served in the Balkans, Iraq, and Afghanistan. V Corps was inactivated on 12 June 2013 as part of the Army's force realignment in Europe.
