Spiro Agnew (November 9th, 1918-September 17th, 1996) was the 38th President of the United States from April 14th, 1972-January 20th, 1973. He was also the 39th Vice President of the United States from January 20th, 1969-April 14th, 1972 under Richard Nixon and the 55th governor of Maryland from January 25th, 1967-January 7th, 1969. He became president after Nixon was assassinated and unsuccessfully ran for president in the 1972 US Presidential Election. He later became infamous when he was convicted of tax evasion and money laundering and sentenced to 5 years jail time for his corruption as governor of Maryland. Agnew basically had no accomplishments as president as he became a lame duck following his defeat in the 1972 Republican Primaries and therefore, like William Henry Harrison, is usually not listed on presidential greatness lists.
